Young Italian Photography

Giovane Fotografia Italiana (Young Italian Photography) is a project of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia dedicated to the discovery and enhancement of emerging photography talents in Italy. Now in its eighth edition, the format provides for a free Open Call – aimed at artists under 35 – which invites them to present a photographic series in line with the concept of the edition. At the heart of the project is an approach to photography devoted to artistic research. An international commission selects the projects which, thanks to an economic contribution destined to the artists, are produced and exhibited in a collective exhibition in the European Photography Festival program in Reggio Emilia. Starting from 2018, each edition also sees the awarding of the Giovane Fotografia Italiana Award, a cash prize awarded to the artist considered the best among the seven finalists. From 2012 to today an archive of over seventy photographers has been established who over the years have participated in Giovane Fotografia Italiana. The project is curated by Daniele De Luigi, with Ilaria Campioli since 2018.
