SIMONE DI CIRENE
(Simon of Cyrene)
Through the use of standard language, seemingly designed for documentation purposes, “Simone di Cirene” aims to develop a narrative of a complex process taking place within the framework of Simon of Cyrene’s own cultural background.
The crosses featured here represent the Crosses of Love of Dozulé found in the areas in and around Modena and Reggio Emilia. These crosses, all 738 centimetres high and 123 centimetres wide, are erected throughout the world by the followers of the cult of Dozulé as substitutes for the lighted cross, 100 times bigger than these, planned for the French town from which it takes its name but never actually built.

BIO
TOMMASO MORI
(Modena, IT, 1988)
Photography graduate at C.F.P. Bauer in Milan. His work is based on participatory practices, existentialism and relational approaches.
More than 200 cyanotypes from his “R-Nord” series are in the collection of the Contemporary Photography Museum in Cinisello Balsamo, Milan.
In Italy his artworks have been shown at La Triennale di Milano (ABITANTI, 2018), Fabbrica del Vapore (BJCEM 17, 2015) and Fotografia Europea (Giovane Fotografia Italiana #3, 2014).
Winner of the national call “ABITARE” (2017) and Antwork Awards (2015). Special mention at Nocivelli Prize (2019) and many times finalist at Premio Francesco Fabbri (2018, 2017, 2015).
In 2019 he had his first solo exhibitions: R-Nord, at Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, and Aeterna, at Gate 26A.
Internationally he showed his works at Festival Circulations (Paris, 2015), Project Basho (Philadelphia, 2016), Unseen Photo Fair (Amsterdam, 2014).
